Safety is a major concern anytime you’re hauling a trailer. Lighting failures, brake problems and other breakdowns can have disastrous consequences on the road. Run the following checks before every trip to ensure safe hauling.
- Check air pressure in tires and maintain it at the pressure listed on the tire and loading information sticker on the trailer.
- Check tire tread and overall condition of the tires and wheels.
- Check that all lights and brakes are working properly before towing.
- Check the coupler and coupler pin, safety chains and general condition of the trailer before every trip.
Maintenance and Service Schedule
In addition to routine pre-run inspections, you should follow all maintenance and service schedules prescribed in your trailer owner’s manual.
Taking a moment for safety will give you hours of safe, trouble-free and worry-free towing.
